Project Lead for Data Center Migration – Fulltime

·        Location: Remote 95%, Munich / Nuremberg

Description:

In preparation for a large-scale data center migration involving multiple servers and firewalls, an experienced Project Lead is required. This individual will be responsible for end-to-end coordination, planning, and execution oversight of all migration-related activities, ensuring alignment with enterprise-level standards and timelines.

Scope of Services:

•                 Project planning and management of the entire server and firewall migration effort

•                 Coordination of internal and external technical teams (e.g., network, server, security engineers)

•                 Definition of migration strategy, milestones, and cutover plans

•                 Risk management, escalation handling, and mitigation planning

•                 Oversight of change and incident management processes in line with ITIL standards

•                 Stakeholder communication and reporting, including status updates, risk logs, and decision support

•                 Support in technical decision-making, particularly in network and security architecture during migration

•                 Ensuring compliance with enterprise security and operational guidelines

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Leadership & Project Management:

1.      Proven track record as project lead or technical program manager in enterprise IT infrastructure or data center projects

2.      Strong background in migration of servers and security infrastructure (firewalls, VPN, routing) in enterprise environment

3.      Expertise in project methodologies: PMI, PRINCE2 or Agile (Scrum/Kanban)

4.      Familiarity with change, risk, and communication management frameworks

Technical Knowledge:

1.      Solid understanding of data center architecture, networking (Layer 2/3), firewalls, and virtualization

2.      Experience with firewall platforms (e.g. Cisco ASA/Firepower, Fortinet)

3.      Experience in DC Enterprise environment

4.      Familiarity with Windows Server, Linux, VMware vSphere, and enterprise networking

Soft Skills & Languages:

1.      Strong communication and leadership skills

2.      Ability to manage cross-functional teams and interface with senior stakeholders

3.      Fluent in English (German is a plus)
